LIVING IN THE SHADOWS

Chinquapin Prep is a non-profit college-Preparatory in Highlands, Texas for grades six through twelve for motivated students from low-income communities by providing a better future through education. Chinquapin Preparatory was founded by Robert Moore and his wife Maxine in 1969 when they saw the necessity of motivation for students who have high potential but limited opportunities. The school’s motto is “Quid Pro Quo” (Something for Something) and is shown by the students as they give back to the school community as they receive a family-oriented environment. In addition to this Chinquapin students in their Junior/ Senior Seminar class have to research ideas for a project that will help the community. Through the project, we have to choose a topic that we are passionate about and will want to eventually like to research and create an impactful project. The research is the first part of the project that we do in our Junior year. In our Senior year, we complete the second part of our project which is by using what we learned in our research and creating a project from it that will help serve our community.
